Craig J. Clark Says Don’t Forget: The Endless

The filmmaking duo of Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead have consistently proven they know how to work within budget limitations to produce subtly chilling sci-fi/horror films that don’t rely on excessive gore or jump scares to get under an audience’s skin. This is especially true of The Endless, which they not only co-directed (in addition to wearing numerous other hats), but also star in as brothers who escaped from a UFO death cult ten years earlier and are drawn back into its orbit, having never truly figured out how to fit into the outside world.

Benson and Moorhead take their time revealing the extent of the situation their characters have gotten themselves into. While Aaron is looking for somewhere to belong and thinks he may have found it, though, there are enough red flags that Justin is reminded why they left Camp Arcadia in the first place. Whether the cult – or something else entirely – will let them leave again is another matter.

With each film they’ve made, Benson and Moorhead have been more and more ambitious. And with their next, Synchronic, currently filming in New Orleans – with Jamie Dornan and Anthony Mackie starring – mainstream success may finally be in the offing for them. Catch The Endless now so you can say you saw it coming.
